Recipe for Successful Career

When Laura Brazeal applied for a job at Aberdeen Village more than 14 years ago, she didn’t even realize it was a senior living community. She just knew she needed a job, and once she got here, she discovered it was far more—it was a family.

“I’ve pretty much grown up here. I started as a dishwasher when I was only 19. I’ve done about every job in the kitchen and am a cook now. I’ve learned so much, and just love the relationships I’ve made with the residents,” said Laura. “Some of the residents were here even before I started. They kind of capture you. They make your experience worthwhile. They teach you a lot of things you normally wouldn’t learn on your own.”

When Laura isn’t making delicious food for our residents, she enjoys spending time with her large family and many friends.

“I spend a lot of time with my family, especially my two nephews, and I’m very close with a lot of friends, and they all have kids. We’re always hanging out, and of course, they like it when I cook for them!” said Laura. “But work is like a big family, too. Being able to meet people and part of their lives and families is wonderful!”

We’re glad Laura chose to “grow up” here with us at Aberdeen Village, and we’re glad she’s part of our family!
