Residents reflect on influential women

History and modern times have no shortage of wonderful women whom we can look up to, so when we asked residents Donna Ashlock and Mary Johnson to name their favorite, it was a bit difficult. There are just so many to choose from! They did give us an answer, though:

Donna Ashlock: “I really admire Eleanor Roosevelt. I’ve read a lot about her, and there’s a quote I’ve always liked: ‘What you are is God’s gift to you. What you become is your gift to God.’ That’s very powerful.”

Mary Johnson: “One woman I greatly admire is Alice Green. She’s over 100 years old and lived her life as a missionary in Alaska. She lived in the native villages and rode a sled dog and everything. She was embraced as a part of their community and helped spread the word of God. She’s still devoting time to mission work. I’ve met her and have talked with her and spent time with her. What a tremendous person she is!”
