FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Find Out What You Need to Know

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions from those interested in our assisted living neighborhood. Read on to find out more about Aberdeen Village. If there’s a question we haven’t answered here, contact us today.

  • When is the right time to move into an Assisted Living community?

When seniors reach the point where they need a little extra help with daily tasks, they sometimes wonder if they are ready for an assisted living community. Perhaps, the concern is costs, or the hassle of moving, or perhaps they associate assisted living with nursing homes. We know it can be a difficult, deeply personal decision, but we will say that an assisted living community is far from a nursing home. Our seniors maintain active social lives, and they set their own daily schedules. They live in private apartments but enjoy having a maintenance-free community and the little bit of extra help that comes with assisted living. We are here to support you while you live the way you want to live.

  • Do you have to be Presbyterian to live at Aberdeen Village?

We welcome all faiths into our community. Our chaplain helps connect our residents with spiritual services that best fit them.

  • How big is your campus? What are my options?

We have 191 apartments and suites at Aberdeen Village—a great size to be able to easily get to know your neighbors. In Highlands Assisted Living, we offer 41 beautiful studio and one-bedroom apartments.

  • Do you have garages or additional storage?

We can direct you to convenient storage units nearby, or an on-site garage may be rented based upon availability. In addition, we can provide expert assistance in rightsizing. A move of this kind usually requires anticipating future needs and making some tough decisions about furnishings and possessions. We can help you in planning. We will work with you personally to ensure the choices you make are right for you and consistent with the way you want live.

  • Do you have different buildings or one building?

We are able to serve all of our residents from one campus under one roof.

  • How do your fees work?

Monthly assisted living fees are based on floor plan and level of services needed. A second-person fee applies for double occupancy, and it varies based on level of services needed. Contact us to learn more and take the next step in your journey.

  • What happens if I run out of money?

As a not-for-profit organization, PMMA offers assistance through its Good Samaritan Program to residents who have outlived their financial resources through no fault of their own. We also accept Medicaid in our Health Care Center.

  • Do you take Medicaid?

We accept Medicaid-approved residents in Whispering Meadows Memory Care and our Health Care Center, depending on availability of our health services.

  • What types of security do you offer?

Our doors are locked between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m., and a team member regularly walks the buildings during those hours. Local law enforcement performs nightly on-campus patrols. We also have a call system so that in an emergency, you have direct access to our nursing staff right on site.

  • Are pets allowed?

We know pets are important, but we really want the opportunity to give our attention to you and care for you, so your pet friends must live elsewhere—but may come visit any time.

  • What is your staffing like?

We have staff around-the-clock in Highlands Assisted Living, and the expertise of a registered nurse and licensed nurse.

  • Do you bring your own furniture?

We want you to make your new home comfortable, so bring in your favorite pieces.

  • What type of care is included in each level of care?

Each level of care is customized for your specific needs. Our nurse will go over one-on-one with you what level fits your wants and needs.

  • Can you still drive? Is there parking?

If you have been driving before you come to Aberdeen Village you can continue to drive.

  • What type of activities do you offer?

We offer a variety of activities including exercise, games and activities that have your interests in mind.

  • Do you have a house physician?

We have a Medical Director who oversees care in Highlands Assisted Living and makes regular visits along with his support staff.
