Aberdeen Village residents and staff test positive for COVID-19 5/22

OLATHE, Kan. – A healthcare resident of Aberdeen Village who had previously tested positive for COVID-19 has passed away.

It’s never easy to say goodbye to a beloved resident. It’s even more difficult during this awful pandemic. The entire Aberdeen Village family is mourning at this time.

While we strive for transparency in what we do, we are bound by federal guidelines under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which protects the privacy rights of our residents even into death. Our medical director follows all established federal laws in notifying families of any change in the medical condition of their loved ones.

Additionally, six residents and three employees at Aberdeen Village tested positive for COVID-19 this week.

The residents have been in isolation and cared for by designated team members. We will follow the PMMA® Emergent Infectious Disease (EID) Policy, KDHE and CDC guidelines for when the employees may return to work and work restrictions upon their return.

We have notified the Johnson County Health Department and will follow all testing and visitation guidance. Visitation continues with infection control precautions and social distancing requirements per Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements.

PMMA strongly encourages family members, employees and residents to carefully consider getting a COVID-19 vaccination for themselves, as well as their loved ones. Every person who receives the vaccine will strengthen the protection for all residents, staff and the community at-large.

All employees are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines and best practices as these are continually updated. The community regularly reinforces with all staff that an employee should not report to work if he or she is experiencing symptoms of a respiratory illness or not feeling well.

For more information about Aberdeen Village’s response, go to PMMA’s (Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America’s) website, Presbyterianmanors.org/Media- room.
