Join us in celebrating the Christmas Spirit

By Diane Gunsolley, Aberdeen Village chaplain

It’s time for glittering decorations, warm holiday movies, scrumptious goodies and so much more! This is the month when friends and family join us in celebrating Christmas. As Aberdeen Village chaplain, I encourage you to deepen your Christmas experience by joining the following activities:

O Come O Come Emmanuel

Each Sunday of December, we will light the advent wreath and prepare our hearts for Christmas with a 3 p.m. service in Assisted Living followed by a 5 p.m. service in the Brandt Chapel.

O Come All Ye Faithful

On Saturday, December 7 there will be a yearly memorial service to honor and remember all those who passed away this year. The service is at 10 a.m. in the Aberdeen Village Brandt Chapel. We will come together in God’s presence as an expression of our faith and the value of community.

Go Tell It On The Mountain

That same day (December 7) in the afternoon you will have an opportunity to watch one of the most loved Christmas movies It’s a Wonderful Life. You’re sure to smile when Clarence gets his wings. The movie is also the perfect time to express your love for your neighbors. Consider making a donation to the Good Samaritan Program. Through this special program, Aberdeen Village residents who outlive their financial resources through no fault of their own receive financial assistance.

Joy to the World

On December 9 and the 22 you are invited to a prayer meeting. Lift your voice in praise. Bring your joys and your concerns to God. See Chaplain Diane for details.

What Child is This?

Explore the full meaning of Christmas. Join the Wednesday morning Bible Fellowship in the chapel. We’re following a LifeWay Bible Study looking at everything from “Angels as Heralds of God” to “Wise Men’s Worship.”

Hark The Herald Angels Sing

Rejoice and celebrate Christmas through music! On Wednesday, December 11 at 3 p.m. Pastor Michael Cork from College Church of the Nazarene and choir members from Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church will lead.

Come Let Us Adore Him

Worship and remember Christ’s body broken and His blood shed for us by partaking of communion on Tuesday, December 17 at 3 p.m.

O Holy Night

Christmas Eve brings two special services (3:30 p.m. in the Assisted Living and 4:30 p.m. in the chapel). Bring your family, and let’s worship together!
