The fabric of service

Each square has a photo of Bob or an image that represents the Navy. One of the featured photos was of a young Bob Otey in his service dress white.

Aberdeen Village independent living resident Judy Otey wanted to come up with a special way to commemorate her husband’s service in the U.S. Navy.

As a skilled quilter, it seemed fitting to stitch together a tapestry of his naval memories. She pulled together images of many of the places Bob Otey traveled during his time serving our great country in the Navy.

The quilt hangs in their apartment, so everyone can see the pictures. This star-spangled quilt is truly a thing of beauty. Thanks to Bob and Judy for sharing their quilt and pictures with us.

And to all of our veterans, thank you so very much for your service. We are humbled by your selflessness and grateful for your willingness to serve our country.
